PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mister Pink (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pink kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mitsa. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 27 - 1, fighting out of London, Mister Pink!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Stark!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pink looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stark is fending him off so far but Pink persists. Nope, Stark circles away and we're back to standing.
Pink shoots in looking for a takedown but Stark manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pink's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Stark throws a head kick that misses.
Stark keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mister Pink. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pink shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pink throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Stark seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Stark escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pink gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stark is trying to control the position but Pink postures up.
Stark looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pink is one step ahead there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee warns Stark that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pink lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Pink with a couple of short strikes.
Pink lands a big shot there that rocks Stark but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Stark tries to hold on but Pink pushes him away.

Pink is landing with some decent strikes but Stark is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Pink closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stark did well to prevent Pink getting side control.

Stark keeping full guard, as Pink tries to pass.
Pink makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Pink passes Stark's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Stark has hold of Pink's hands but Pink slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Pink looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stark with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pink wants to pass to mount but Stark is defending the position.
Stark tries to roll over but Pink keeps him under control.
Pink seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stark does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pink is stalling here. Stark is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pink seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Stark has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Stark decides to stand back up. Stark steps back and let's Pink get back to his feet.

Pink shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stark is trying to defend but Pink finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pink, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
