PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kid Koala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Extreme Tapout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tapout has chosen Know your enemy - rage against the machine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Extreme Tapout has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kid Koala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Extreme Tapout!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tapout on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Tapout fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Oooooh!!! Koala has knocked Tapout down with a huge combo! Koala steps away and waves a wobbly Tapout back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Tapout is rocked!

It looks like Extreme Tapout has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tapout shoots in but Koala avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tapout is still on wobbly legs! Can Koala finish him?
Koala throws a nice looking combination but Tapout bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Tapout seems to have recovered his senses.
Koala waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tapout.

Koala lands a left and a right that send Tapout crashing to the mat, dazed. Koala thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Koala throws a right and a left that Tapout avoids nicely.
Tapout changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Koala tries to avoid it but Tapout manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koala to the ground. Koala escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kid Koala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Extreme Tapout.
Koala throws a jab when Tapout was well out of range.
Tapout walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Koala swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Koala throws a right hand that Tapout ducks under and follows up with a left that Tapout also avoids with ease.
Koala throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tapout on the side of the head.

Koala gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Tapout wants to control from the top but Koala keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tapout stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koala swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koala has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Tapout drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Koala manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tapout has Koala in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tapout working for a triangle but Koala defends it easily.
Tapout looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Tapout looking for a guillotine here but Koala defends easily.
Tapout looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tapout is trying to keep Koala in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kid Koala dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Extreme Tapout's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Tapout shoots in but no luck this time.
Kid Koala is winning the standup battle so far.
Tapout scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Koala misses with a double jab.
Tapout dodges the punch combination from Koala.
Tapout looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Koala misses with a straight left.
Tapout connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Tapout shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Koala napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Koala dodges the ground and pound from Tapout.

Tapout goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Koala has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Tapout but great work by Koala.
Tapout tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Tapout's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Koala stands up and beckons Tapout to his feet.
Tapout avoids the body shot from Koala.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tapout fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kid Koala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Extreme Tapout.
Tapout shoots in looking for a takedown but Koala manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tapout's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Tapout is breathing heavily.
Koala takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Koala throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tapout misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tapout shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Koala pinned against the cage. Koala gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tapout throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tapout fails with a takedown attempt.
Koala throws a series of punches but Tapout moves out of range.
Koala stalks Tapout and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Tapout's face. Tapout staggers backwards, shaken.

Tapout scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Tapout wants to control but Koala is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Koala is pushing Tapout's head away, looking to escape. Tapout manages to hold on to the position though.

Tapout tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Tapout working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tapout passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Koala!
Tapout lands a big shot there that rocks Koala but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Extreme Tapout showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Tapout shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Tapout moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Koala has worked his arm free - good work by Koala!

Tapout is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Koala has escaped the position, nice work there.
Tapout wants to lay and pray for a moment but Koala keeps working.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Koala tries to escape but Tapout is in control.

Tapout has an Americana. Koala didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Tapout is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Tapout hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
