Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikka Korvaleinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikkel Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikkel Kessler!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kessler motions for Korvaleinen to come forward. Kessler throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kessler is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Korvaleinen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kessler sprawls well. Kessler wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Korvaleinen gets slowly back to his feet.
Mikkel Kessler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kessler jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Korvaleinen walks away with a smile on his face. Kessler gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Korvaleinen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kessler is proving hard to escape from.

That was a close round but I would say that Mikka Korvaleinen will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kessler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Korvaleinen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kessler throws a chopping leg kick but Korvaleinen manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kessler tries to close the distance and clinch but Korvaleinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Kessler counters with a series of strikes. Korvaleinen will be more careful next time no doubt.

Korvaleinen is looking to control Kessler's arms but Kessler gets an underhook and turns him. Now Korvaleinen has his back to the cage.
Korvaleinen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kessler is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kessler jumps into guard, dragging Korvaleinen to the mat.
Kessler is looking to stand up but Korvaleinen isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Korvaleinen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mikka Korvaleinen.
I think Korvaleinen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
