PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Farrelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eliseo Seterra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seterra has chosen Before I forget as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farrelly throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Seterra closes the distance and clinches up with Farrelly, looking for a takedown. Seterra pushes Farrelly against the cage but Farrelly circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Farrelly dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Seterra slips a jab and a cross from Farrelly.
Seterra blocks a head kick by Farrelly.

Seterra feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Farrelly wants to stand and escape but Seterra is having none of it.

Seterra drops back looking for a leg! Farrelly is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Farrelly manages to kick Seterra off! Seterra jumps back into Farrelly's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Farrelly is on top in guard.

Farrelly wants to free his trapped foot but Seterra is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Farrelly seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Seterra is defended easily by Farrelly.

It looks like Eliseo Seterra has been cut.
Farrelly lands a body shot.

Seterra fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Farrelly sprawls well initially but Seterra persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Seterra looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Farrelly makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Farrelly.

Seterra gets to his feet - Farrelly follows without any prompting.
Farrelly swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Seterra counters with a head kick.
Seterra keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Farrelly throws a lazy right hand but Seterra sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Farrelly lands a nice hook to Seterra's body. Seterra takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Seterra throws a series of punches but Farrelly avoids them all with ease.
Seterra dives in and grabs Farrelly's left leg, looking for a takedown. Farrelly pushes down on Seterra's head and hops out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Farrelly tries to lock up and control but Seterra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Farrelly will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Farrelly scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Farrelly connects with a body shot that sends Seterra's belly button to the back.

Farrelly lunges at Seterra with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Seterra's hand.

Seterra has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Seterra there as he acknowledges the shot.

Seterra shoots in for a takedown but Farrelly shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Seterra is breathing heavily.
No joy there for Farrelly, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Farrelly cracks Seterra with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
