Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brodie Sahertian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BJ Penn could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brodie Sahertian's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn clobbers Sahertian with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Sahertian shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Penn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sahertian postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Penn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sahertian, into his guard.

Sahertian working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Penn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Penn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Penn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sahertian is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Penn is looking to work some ground and pound but Sahertian has wrist control.
Penn wants to control from the top but Sahertian keeps moving.

Sahertian has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Penn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sahertian manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Penn manages to get himself to full guard.

Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sahertian swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Penn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Penn drops back looking for a leg! Sahertian is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sahertian manages to kick Penn off! Penn jumps back into Sahertian's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Penn is looking to take a break and control but Sahertian is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Penn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Penn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brodie Sahertian dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Penn is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sahertian wants to work for an arm triangle but Penn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sahertian is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Penn is just riding it out for now. Sahertian eventually gives up the hold.

Sahertian is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sahertian to get the leverage.

Penn is trying to stand back up but Sahertian is controlling him

Sahertian is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Penn still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Penn has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Sahertian struggling a bit here.

Penn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sahertian is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Penn tries to move to mount but Sahertian blocks the move with his legs.
Sahertian tries to buck Penn off but Penn is having none of it.
Penn has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Sahertian tries to improve his position but Penn has taken his back! Penn has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Sahertian tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Penn pushes Sahertian away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). BJ Penn!
