Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryo Kanzaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Ryo Kanzaki has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryo Kanzaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Greg Valentine!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kanzaki closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Valentine manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Kanzaki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kanzaki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Valentine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kanzaki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kanzaki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kanzaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Valentine is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kanzaki defends well.
Valentine doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Kanzaki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kanzaki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Valentine looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Valentine trying to keep a closed guard but Kanzaki is proving a slippery customer.

Valentine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kanzaki is aware though and is defending well.

Valentine wants to stand up but Kanzaki is controlling him.
Valentine trying to keep a closed guard but Kanzaki is proving a slippery customer.
Valentine can't keep his opponent in guard - Kanzaki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kanzaki knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Valentine on the ground.

Kanzaki tries to pass to full mount but Valentine defends it.
Valentine has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kanzaki is working away from the top position though.
Valentine is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Kanzaki is staying active.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kanzaki is looking for a kimura but Valentine is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kanzaki to get the leverage.

Kanzaki is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Valentine is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Kanzaki is tapping! Great win for Valentine!
