PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Maury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Polydamas Mavroidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Polydamas Mavroidis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mavroidis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maury avoids it really well and circles away.
Maury defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mavroidis.
Mavroidis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maury circles away.
Tom Maury has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Polydamas Mavroidis.

and Maury counters with a left and a right that stings Mavroidis.

Mavroidis shoots in for a double leg but Maury sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mavroidis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Maury moves out of range as Mavroidis throws a body kick.

Maury pushes Mavroidis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mavroidis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
