Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chun Ka Tet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonardo Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ka Tet might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston. Chun Ka Tet has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leonardo Maxwell!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ka Tet misses with a few strikes there.
Maxwell fails in his attempt to clinch.
Maxwell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ka Tet defends it nicely.
Maxwell shoots for a takedown but Ka Tet saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A combination from Maxwell does no damage.
Ka Tet scores with a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maxwell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ka Tet throws the left hand but Maxwell avoids the punch easily.

Maxwell doesn't manage to clinch there - Ka Tet circles away.
Maxwell moves in looking to clinch but Ka Tet pushes him off.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Maxwell.

Maxwell is keen to just control but Ka Tet is a slippery customer.

Maxwell is looking to work some ground and pound but Ka Tet has wrist control.

Ka Tet has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maxwell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Maxwell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ka Tet has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Maxwell has managed to get both his arms back between Ka Tet's legs - danger averted.

Ka Tet is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maxwell defends well.

Ka Tet has his foot on Maxwell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maxwell works his way back into a safe position though.
Maxwell distracts Ka Tet with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Ka Tet is looking for a triangle but Maxwell pushes his legs off easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Chun Ka Tet will probably get the nod.

Chun Ka Tet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonardo Maxwell.
Maxwell uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ka Tet.

Ka Tet swats away the attempt to clinch by Maxwell.
Ka Tet closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maxwell circles away.

and Ka Tet connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Maxwell scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Ka Tet manages to mount him!
Maxwell is breathing heavily.
Ka Tet tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Maxwell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ka Tet content just to control the position here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Maxwell is desperately trying to improve his position but Ka Tet has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chun Ka Tet dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Ka Tet shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Maxwell is trying to get back to full guard.
Ka Tet seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chun Ka Tet.
Ka Tet misses with a takedown attempt - Maxwell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A looping hook to the body misses from Maxwell. Ka Tet does a little dance to reset his feet.

Ka Tet's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Chun Ka Tet showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Ka Tet has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
