The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fitch is pressing down on Elite's thigh, looking to free his foot. Elite is holding on for now.
Fitch is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Elite has managed to free his arm - good work.
Fitch is working for a kimura but Elite is defending it quite comfortably.
Fitch is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fitch wants to pass the guard but Elite is defending well.
Elite makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Elite.

Fitch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Elite swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

and Fitch counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fitch has gone for a leg lock! Elite slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fitch's guard.
Fitch has his foot on Elite's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Elite works his way back into a safe position though.

Fitch had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Elite is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fitch Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Elite's back instead.
Fitch is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Elite is defending well though. Fitch let's go of the attempt for now.
Fitch has his arm under Elite's chin here. Game over son! Fitch squeezes tightly and Elite is forced to tap out!
