PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Wayne Parr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randal Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parr comes to the cage accompanied by Remedy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Wayne Parr!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Randal Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Parr as he jumps to the side.
Stevens just misses with a punch to the body.
Stevens misses with a body shot.
Stevens ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parr moves away.
Stevens lands a jab to the nose.
Stevens takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parr lands with a nice combination. Stevens backs away looking to recover.
Stevens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Parr as he avoids it easily.
Parr takes a shot right to the bread basket.

No joy there for Parr, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stevens ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Parr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stevens misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Parr.
The fighters circling - Stevens throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Parr throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Parr avoids the body shot from Stevens.
Parr stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Parr wants it to stay on the feet.

Stevens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parr's waist but Parr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stevens off to one side.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Parr lands a nice looking body shot.
Stevens is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Parr.

Stevens feints and as Parr raises his hands in defense, Stevens changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Stevens is stalling here. Parr is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Stevens seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Parr has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Parr wants to stand but Stevens is controlling his arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Randal Stevens will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Stevens misses with a hook. Parr ducked under it nicely.

Stevens throws a hook to the side of Parr's head but Parr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Well, if Stevens is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Randal Stevens showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Parr takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
BOOM! Stevens connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Stevens has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Stevens cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Oooh a big shot lands for Stevens! Parr is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
