Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Artur Da Matta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikko Kuustonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuustonen has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Artur Da Matta has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Artur Da Matta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mikko Kuustonen!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Da Matta closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kuustonen to the mat! Kuustonen manages to get full guard.

Da Matta is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kuustonen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Da Matta decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kuustonen to his feet.

Da Matta closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Da Matta lands in his opponent's guard.

Kuustonen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Da Matta doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Da Matta manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kuustonen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Da Matta fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kuustonen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kuustonen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Da Matta stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Da Matta feints and as Kuustonen raises his hands in defense, Da Matta changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Da Matta got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kuustonen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Da Matta has managed to get both his arms back between Kuustonen's legs - danger averted.

Kuustonen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Da Matta can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
