PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mo Talib (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Talib's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Drowning Pool - Bodies. Jackson has chosen Green and Yellow as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Randy Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Talib fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mo Talib seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt
and Talib counters with a two punch combo.
No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Talib swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jackson takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Mo Talib has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Jackson.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Talib gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Talib wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mo Talib just wasn't active enough.
Talib fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Jackson clinches up with Talib and pushes him back against the cage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jackson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Talib sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Talib shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Talib counters by moving into the clinch.
Talib has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jackson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Jackson tries to pull guard but Talib holds him up against the cage and eventually Jackson drops back down to his feet.

Talib shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Randy Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Talib swings wildly with an uppercut but Jackson uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jackson jumps guard but Talib stands there with Jackson around his waist. Jackson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Talib avoids it really well and circles away.

Randy Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jackson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Talib is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jackson lands a big shot there that rocks Talib but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
