PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oshi Takawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Digger Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Oshi Takawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Digger Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgee shoots in but Takawa avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mcgee is looking to clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcgee is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Takawa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mcgee is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Takawa, into his guard.

Takawa with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Oshi Takawa will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Mcgee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Takawa has a closed guard, preventing Mcgee from standing up.
Takawa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mcgee's guard.

Takawa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mcgee manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Takawa has Mcgee in his guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Takawa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mcgee looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mcgee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mcgee!

Mcgee tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcgee has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Takawa sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Takawa has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Mcgee. Oh but Takawa has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Mcgee goes limp - he's gone! Takawa jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
