PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Bros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent has chosen BLUNT- "The Iron Maiden" as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Bros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Kent!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kent throws a head kick but Bros moves out of range.
Bros throws a nice looking combination but Kent bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bros scores with a body shot.
Bros lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kent circles away quickly and effectively.
Bros ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kent moves away.
Bros tries to bum rush Kent with a series of wild strikes but Kent uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bros throws a sloppy head kick
and Kent counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Bros throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kent counters with a nice body kick.

Kent throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bros tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kent is in Bros's guard.

Bros is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bros looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kent stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bros swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kent sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Bros throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Kent pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bros is keeping the position for now.
Kent seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kent looking to pass the guard.
Bros wants to sweep here but Kent controlling him for the moment.
Kent passes into half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kent thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kent with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kent prevents Bros from improving his position.
Kent works his way into side control.
Kent moves into full mount!
Kent wants to control the pace but Bros is squirming around nicely.
Kent content just to control the position here.

Kent is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bros can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Bros is working to get back to half guard.
Kent manages to capitalize on a mistake by Bros to take his back!
Bros is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Bros prevents Kent from getting a body triangle.
Kent looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Bros tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Kent wants to control the pace but Bros is squirming around nicely.

Kent controlling the pace for now.
Bros is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Bros in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Kent takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kent avoids the attempt from Bros to control.
Kent wants to control the pace but Bros is squirming around nicely.
Bros is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bros is in a horrible position here. Kent smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Kent dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bros scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Bros misses with a wild body shot.
Bros lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kent circles away quickly and effectively.
Kent throws a head kick that misses.
Bros throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bros misses with a few strikes there.
Bros connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kent avoids the body shot from Bros.
Bros throws a jab when Kent was well out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes from Bros. Those never looked like landing.
Mario Bros is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bros throws a hook to the side of Kent's head but Kent sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Mario Bros is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bros misses with a double jab.

Kent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kent forces his way into half guard.
Kent wants to pass to mount but Bros is defending the position.

Kent is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Bros as he works his way to full guard.
Kent pushing down on Bros's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Bros is looking to control Kent's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bros avoid being mounted?
Kent is trying to control the action in half guard but Bros is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bros is trying to control but can't.
Bros tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Bros moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kent wants to control from the top but Bros keeps moving.
Kent tries to free his leg and advance position but Bros is retaining full guard.

Kent has gone for a leg lock! Bros slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kent's guard.
Bros won't allow Kent to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kent is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Bros wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving.

Mario Bros has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Bros throws a body punch but Kent moves out of range.

Kent shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kent moves into full mount! Bros won't be happy about that!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bros tries to hold on but Kent postures up.
Bros takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kent looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Kent looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Bros is trying to escape the mount.

Kent goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bros turns into him and now he's in Kent's guard.
Bros wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jim Kent will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Bros throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bros misses with a combination
and Kent counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Bros takes a swing at Kent's ribcage but misses.
Bros swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bros throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kent cracks the inside of Bros's front leg.
Bros throws a lazy head kick

and Kent decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bros's guard.
Bros looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bros is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kent wants to control from the top but Bros keeps moving.
Kent passes Bros's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kent drops an elbow to the side of Bros's head.
Well, if Kent is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kent is looking for a kimura here.
Bros is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kent is trying to control the action in half guard but Bros is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kent tries to pass to full mount but Bros defends it.
Kent is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bros!
Bros sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Kent trying to mount his opponent but Bros defends it.
Kent works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jim Kent has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kent can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bros is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kent moves to the back position.
Bros trying to control the hands but Kent won't let him.
Kent lands with a hammerfist to the side of Bros's head.
Kent controlling the position well here. Bros rolled but Kent kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Kent sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Bros taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jim Kent!
