Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heath Legg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Legg has chosen Angel of Death as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Jones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Heath Legg!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jones throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Legg moves into the clinch successfully.
Legg wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Jones throws a punch but it's blocked by Legg.

Legg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Legg looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.

Jones gets caught flat footed, as Legg shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Legg loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Legg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Legg has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.

Legg postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jones is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Legg, into his guard.
Legg has a closed guard, preventing Jones from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Legg is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Legg pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage.
Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Legg is proving hard to escape from.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Legg is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Heath Legg hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Legg avoids a kick to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Legg misses with the combination.
Legg throws a leg kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Legg misses with the body kick
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
A big left from Jones misses.
Jones throws a low kick but Legg avoids it.
Jones tries to land a front kick but Legg steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Legg has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Heath Legg has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Legg tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Legg thows a leg kick but Jones checks it
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Legg throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Paul Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jones clobbers Legg with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Jones looks to score with a jab to the body but Legg is just out of range.
Jones throws a wild body kick that Legg sees coming a mile off.
Jones misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jones throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Legg's head.
Jones with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Heath Legg's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Legg shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.
Jones misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jones misses with a kick to the body

and Legg counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
Jones struggling a bit here.
Legg has control of an arm but Jones manages to advance to Legg's back!
Legg trying to control the hands but Jones won't let him.
Legg turns into Jones and is now in his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Legg postures up.

Legg has gone for a leg lock! Jones slips out almost immediately though and dives into Legg's guard.
Legg keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Legg is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.
Legg trying to control the position here.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Legg is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Legg is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Legg looking for a sweep. Not yet Legg, not yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones controlling from the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Jones wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Legg takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Jones plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jones throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Legg avoids a kick to the body.
Legg sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Legg is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Legg moves out of range of the body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Jones dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Heath Legg's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Whack! Jones lands a heavy head kick that drops Legg. The ref tackles Jones to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Legg was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Paul Jones!
Paul Jones retains his lightweight title!
