PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Graham Goddard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flavio Sandoval (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goddard's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, War Is My Destiny. Flavio Sandoval will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Graham Goddard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Flavio Sandoval!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goddard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sandoval throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sandoval slaps away a takedown attempt from Goddard, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Goddard throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sandoval works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Goddard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sandoval swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Graham Goddard has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Goddard closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Flavio Sandoval is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fight stays on the outside here - Goddard looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Goddard closes the distance and clinches up with Sandoval, looking for a takedown. Goddard pushes Sandoval against the ropes but Sandoval circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We're going to have a standup here because Graham Goddard wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Goddard tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Goddard tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sandoval just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Goddard turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Goddard manages to end up in side control.

Goddard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Goddard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Goddard is looking to take a break and control but Sandoval is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goddard takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Sandoval throws an overhand right that lands on Goddard's shoulder, as Goddard tries to avoid the shot.
Goddard fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sandoval throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Goddard changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sandoval tries to avoid it but Goddard manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sandoval to the ground. Sandoval escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Flavio Sandoval seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Goddard needs to keep his hands up - Sandoval had a free shot at his head there.
Sandoval bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Goddard's head.

Goddard is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Goddard jumps guard but Sandoval stands there with Goddard around his waist. Goddard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Sandoval scores with a nice short uppercut.
Sandoval lands a right hand that snaps the head of Goddard backwards.

Sandoval is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Sandoval is trying to break the clinch but Goddard is controlling him.

Goddard is rocked!
Sandoval dips a shoulder and cracks Goddard with a mighty uppercut! Goddard falls back against the ropes and Sandoval unloads with a barrage of strikes! Goddard is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the ropes! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Sandoval screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Flavio Sandoval!
