Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Borislav Alekseev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chong Man Hoi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Alekseev might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to USSR Anthem. Chong Man Hoi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alekseev fails to land with a series of punches.

Alekseev drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Alekseev wants to stand but Hoi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Alekseev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hoi on the ground.

Hoi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alekseev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hoi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hoi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Hoi is looking for a triangle but Alekseev pushes his legs off easily.
Hoi looking for a sweep. Not yet Hoi, not yet.

Hoi has a closed guard, preventing Alekseev from standing up.
Hoi wants to improve his position but instead Alekseev has moved into half guard.
Alekseev drops an elbow to the side of Hoi's head.

Hoi looking for submissions off his back.
Hoi looks gassed!
Alekseev prevents Hoi from improving his position.
Alekseev tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Hoi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hoi.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hoi isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Alekseev stacks Hoi on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Alekseev!
Alekseev wants to stand but Hoi is controlling his arm.
Alekseev lands an elbow.

Alekseev has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Alekseev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hoi swivels and escapes.
Alekseev throws a half hearted mid kick.
Hoi avoids a kick to the body.
Borislav Alekseev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circle momentarily. Alekseev darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Chong Man Hoi has been cut.
Alekseev misses with a few strikes there.
Alekseev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hoi swivels and escapes.
Hoi slips a jab and a cross from Alekseev.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alekseev misses with a jab, cross combination.

Hoi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Alekseev is stalling in the full guard.
Alekseev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hoi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alekseev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hoi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Alekseev wants to get up but he can't break Hoi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hoi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Alekseev stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Alekseev throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Alekseev.
Alekseev pivots, looking for a leg kick but Hoi is out of range and Alekseev settles back down.
Hoi with a poor takedown

and Alekseev decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hoi's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hoi is looking for a triangle but Alekseev pushes his legs off easily.
Hoi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hoi throwing shots but Alekseev is blocking nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hoi wants to pass to mount but Alekseev is defending the position.

Hoi is looking for a kimura but Alekseev is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hoi to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Chong Man Hoi's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hoi tries for a takedown but Alekseev circles away easily
and Alekseev makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Alekseev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hoi as he avoids it easily.
Alekseev lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Hoi blocks a head kick by Alekseev.
Hoi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Hoi moves out of range of the body kick.
Alekseev fails with a takedown attempt.
Hoi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
An inside leg kick lands from Alekseev.
Hoi is breathing heavily.
Hoi avoids the head kick by Alekseev.
Alekseev throws a head kick but Hoi moves out of range.
Alekseev throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Hoi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Borislav Alekseev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hoi sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Alekseev defending well though.

Hoi is working for a kimura but Alekseev is defending it quite comfortably.
Hoi passes to full mount!
Alekseev's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Hoi working for a guillotine from mount but Alekseev is in no mood to give up.
Alekseev holds on for dear life.

Hoi goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Alekseev is on top in guard.

Hoi is looking to sinch up a triangle. Alekseev throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hoi's body to avoid the submission. Hoi has instead reached around Alekseev's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hoi arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
