Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aldo Parise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clarence Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clarence Jones is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aldo Parise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clarence Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parise slips a jab from Jones.
A combination from Jones does no damage.
Jones lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Parise at a distance.
Parise looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Parise persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Parise shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Parise shoots in but no luck this time.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Parise dives on top into guard.

Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Parise is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Parise's temple.

Parise is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Parise wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Parise is breathing heavily.
Parise wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Parise tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control.

Jones is tying to control. Parise wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Jones is looking for a kimura but Parise is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jones to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Parise has his takedown stuffed

Parise bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jones tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Parise lands some shots froms side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parise controls the position.

Parise content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Parise is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Clarence Jones will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parise moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Parise stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jones.

and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Parise.

Parise closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Parise lands in his opponent's guard.
Parise tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Jones has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Parise doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Parise manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jones gets caught flat footed, as Parise shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jones wants to stand up but Parise is controlling him.

Jones might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Parise kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Parise throws and elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Parise's guard. Nice move by Jones!

Parise had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jones is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Parise Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jones's back instead.
Parise is trying to stick to Jones's back but Jones is turning into Parise. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Parise's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jones.

Parise wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Parise gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jones counters with a series of strikes. Parise will be more careful next time no doubt.
Parise takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Jones misses with a straight right.
Parise showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Jones throws a shot from downtown. Parise moves away and avoids it.
Parise fails with a takedown attempt.
Parise shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Parise keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones scores with a one two! Parise had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones throws a jab when Parise was well out of range.
Jones throws a series of punches but Parise avoids them all with ease.

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Parise won't be happy with that.
Jones lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Parise down.

Jones decides to stand back up. Jones steps back and let's Parise get back to his feet.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Parise swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Parise on that attempt.

Jones is looking to advance position but Parise won't allow it.

Clarence Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Parise wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.

Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parise moves away.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Parise bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

Parise is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Parise is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones is desperately trying to improve his position but Parise has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones is in a horrible position here. Parise smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Clarence Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
