PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Kudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and steve austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). austin has chosen shattered dreams as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Kudo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, steve austin!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kudo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from austin.

Kudo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
austin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kudo asserts his dominance and retains side control.

austin is trying to control Kudo's posture but Kudo avoids it.
Kudo wants to control but austin is keeping him busy.
A lull in the action here.

Kudo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. austin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
austin is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
austin misses with a series of wild punches.
austin lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Kudo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kudo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. austin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kudo wants to control from the top but austin keeps moving.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kudo tries to free his leg and advance position but austin is retaining full guard.
austin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kudo controls the pace.
Kudo trying to control but austin is working from the bottom.

Kudo got a little sloppy there for a moment and austin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kudo has managed to get both his arms back between austin's legs - danger averted.

austin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kudo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kudo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for austin on the ground.
austin looks gassed!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frank Kudo.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kudo.

austin explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
austin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

austin tries to clinch but Kudo is having none of it.
austin doesn't manage to clinch there - Kudo circles away.

Kudo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. austin was covering up waiting for the punch and Kudo finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if austin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kudo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kudo forces his way into half guard.

Kudo is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Kudo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kudo is working for a kimura but austin is defending it quite comfortably.
Kudo content to control rather than advance.
austin is breathing heavily.

Kudo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but austin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kudo stops austin from getting back to his feet.
Kudo tries to pass the half guard into mount. austin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kudo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kudo wants to work for an arm triangle but austin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kudo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down austin for as long as he can get away with.
austin tries to buck Kudo off but he can't manage it.
austin is just holding on here. Kudo manages to take his back.

Kudo is trying to control the action in half guard but austin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Kudo dominated that second round.
That's time! Kudo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Kudo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kudo stops austin from getting back to his feet.
Frank Kudo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
austin wants to improve his position but Kudo is controlling well.

Kudo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, austin has managed to free his arm - good work.
austin looks like he's trying to stand up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kudo slows the pace down in half guard.
Kudo prevents austin from standing back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kudo maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! austin could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Kudo has cracked it and austin is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Kudo!
