Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Hopp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Sobral will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobral is looking to clinch but Hopp is avoiding it.
Sobral misses with a head kick.

Hopp throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sobral was covering up waiting for the punch and Hopp finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hopp drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sobral manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hopp has Sobral in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hopp had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sobral defends it easily.
Hopp is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sobral wants to control from the top but Hopp keeps moving.

Hopp has his foot on Sobral's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sobral works his way back into a safe position though.

Hopp shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sobral defends it nicely.

Hopp tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sobral swivels and escapes.

Hopp shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sobral as he avoids it easily.

Sobral slaps away a takedown attempt from Hopp, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sobral tries to clinch but Hopp moves out of range.

Hopp darts in and clinches Sobral up against the cage.

Hopp has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sobral regains guard immediately.

Hopp throws and elbow that misses. Sobral uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hopp's guard. Nice move by Sobral!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hopp is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sobral is aware though and is defending well.

Hopp drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sobral dives on top into guard.
Sobral is fighting to break Hopp's control of his arms but Hopp is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Hopp pushes a forearm under Sobral's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Sobral is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
