PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Patino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and abud osama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Patino looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Patino.

osama looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Patino!

osama is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Patino can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
osama postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Patino looks a forlorn figure.
Patino is squirming around, avoiding osama's attempts to control the action.
osama avoids the attempt from Patino to control.
osama misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Patino wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by osama.

osama moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Patino has worked his arm free - good work by Patino!
Patino could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Patino gets back to half guard.
osama thows a huge punch but Patino dodges it nicely.

osama is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Patino is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Patino is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of osama's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take osama's back!

You can see the frustration on osama's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

osama is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

osama is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Patino off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Patino has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, osama has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Patino is trying to stick to osama's back but osama is turning into Patino. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Patino's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by osama.

osama postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
osama slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
osama tries to free his leg and advance position but Patino is retaining full guard.
osama looks gassed!
osama is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
osama is looking to work some ground and pound but Patino has wrist control.

Patino is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

osama throws and elbow that misses. Patino uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in osama's guard. Nice move by Patino!

Patino manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. osama manages to get himself to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Patino accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Patino thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
osama flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
osama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patino. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
