Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Thugs. Darren Burns has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stevie Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darren Burns!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker tries a head kick but it misses.
Walker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Burns.
Walker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Walker swings for the body but Burns moves out of range.
Walker tries to clinch up.
A nice inside leg kick there by Walker. That's going to slow Burns down.
Nice defenses there by Burns.
A slapping body kick lands there for Walker.
Burns is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Burns tries to clinch up but Walker circles away and keeps his distance.
Walker scores with a jab.
Walker misses the jab.

Burns steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Walker.
Walker throws an overhand right that lands on Burns's shoulder, as Burns tries to avoid the shot.
Walker works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Burns tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Walker counters with a nice body shot.
Burns uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Walker.
Walker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Walker fails to land with a series of punches.
A bone on bone clash there as Burns blocks the leg kick.
Walker tries a head kick but it misses.
Burns darts in trying to clinch
and Walker counters with a nice uppercut.

Walker tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Walker circles away from the clinch attempt
and Walker makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Walker thumps Burns with a low kick.
Walker goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Burns on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Burns slips a straight right by Walker.
Walker tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Burns counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Walker moves into range and clinches up with Burns.

Burns has clasped his hands together around Walker's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Walker prevents Burns from moving into mount.
Burns tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Walker is looking to reverse the position.
Burns tries to advance to mount but can't.
Walker is trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Burns working the strikes but Walker uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Burns trying to pass the guard but Walker defending well.
Walker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Walker looks to clinch
and Burns counters with a left to the body.
Stevie Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walker lands a head kick. Burns smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Burns tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stevie Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Walker moves into the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Burns goes for a takedown attempt but Walker pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Walker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Nice defenses there by Burns.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Burns is trying to stall.

Walker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Burns slips a jab from Walker.
Walker tries to clinch there but Burns circles away.
Burns tries to clinch but Walker moves away
and Walker counters with a stiff right hand.
Walker throws a half hearted mid kick.
Burns shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Walker sprawls well. Walker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Burns gets slowly back to his feet.

Walker forces Burns back against the cage and clinches.

Burns missing with knees to the body.
Walker lands a hook that snaps the head of Burns backwards.

Walker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Burns closes this distance looking for a takedown but Walker circles away.
Burns tries to clinch
and Walker counters with a three punch combo that has Burns backing up. Burns nods at Walker to acknowledge the strikes.

Burns changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Walker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Burns trying to control the action but Walker is working from the bottom.
Burns is breathing heavily.

Burns goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Walker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Burns's guard! Nice work there by Walker!

Burns not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Walker showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Burns is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Walker is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Walker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Burns is keeping the position for now.

Burns has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Walker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Burns looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Burns is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Walker trying to control but Burns is working from the bottom.

Walker wants to control from the top but Burns keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Walker tries to clinch but Burns is having none of it.
Walker throws a wild body kick that Burns sees coming a mile off.
Walker misses with an uppercut. Burns saw that one coming.
Burns closes the distance but Walker moves to the side
enabling Walker to counter with a crisp jab.
Walker misses with a double jab.
Burns wants to clinch
and Walker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Burns pushes Walker up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stevie Walker dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Walker closes the distance looking to clinch

and Burns counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Burns working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Walker's thigh. Walker counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Burns throws and elbow that misses. Walker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Burns's guard. Nice move by Walker!

Burns is looking for a triangle here but Walker uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Walker is putting a hurting on Burns here, landing some big shots from side control.
Walker wants to control but Burns is keeping him busy.

Burns taking a bit of punishment here - Walker scoring with strikes.
Burns manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Burns gets back to full guard.
Burns takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Burns throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Walker escapes and throws Burns's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Burns is trying to improve his position.

Walker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

You can see the frustration on Burns's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Burns is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Burns is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Burns darts in trying to clinch

and Walker counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Walker.
Darren Burns has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Burns has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Walker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Walker blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Burns pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Burns unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Burns is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Walker.
Burns tries to land knees in the clinch but Walker avoids the damage to the body.
Walker lands a nice shot to the body.
Walker lands a nice uppercut.
Walker gets through Burns's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Burns tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Walker avoids it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Walker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Walker throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Burns decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Walker's guard.

Burns looking to pass the guard.
Walker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Burns is one step ahead there.
Burns postures up in Walker's guard and throws a big left but Walker blocks it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walker wants to sweep here but Burns controlling him for the moment.
Burns throwing strikes from guard but Walker blocks nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Darren Burns comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Walker has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
