PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Estrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Sloucher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Estrada comes to the cage accompanied by Alice in Chains - Man In The Box . The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Estrada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kim Sloucher!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Estrada swats away the attempt to clinch by Sloucher.
Sloucher tries to clinch up but Estrada circles away and keeps his distance.
Estrada lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Kim Sloucher has been cut.

Sloucher closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Estrada quickly recovers to half guard.
Sloucher wants to stand up but Estrada is controlling the position.
Sloucher is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Estrada manages to get to full guard.
Sloucher won't allow Estrada to sweep him here.
Sloucher wants to stand but Estrada has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sloucher decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Sloucher tries to clinch there but Estrada circles away.
Estrada avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Estrada keeps the fight on the outside.
Sloucher tries to close the distance and clinch up but Estrada swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Estrada keeps the fight on the outside.
Sloucher tries to clinch there but Estrada circles away.
Estrada tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sloucher swivels and escapes.

Sloucher tries to close the distance and clinch but Estrada swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sloucher wants to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sloucher looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
No joy there for Estrada, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sloucher tries to clinch but Estrada is having none of it.
Estrada misses with a few strikes there.
Estrada swats away the attempt to clinch by Sloucher.
Estrada throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sloucher doesn't manage to clinch there - Estrada circles away.
Sloucher tries to close the distance and clinch but Estrada swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sloucher enables Estrada to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sloucher manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Estrada drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Estrada jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sloucher looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Estrada drops back looking for a leg! Sloucher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sloucher manages to kick Estrada off! Estrada jumps back into Sloucher's guard.

Estrada drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sloucher manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Estrada has Sloucher in his guard.
Sloucher wants to get up but he can't break Estrada's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Sloucher stands and steps away. Estrada gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Sloucher bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Estrada manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Sloucher stands up and beckons Estrada to join him on the feet.
Estrada looks to land a combination. Sloucher sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Estrada has a takedown stuffed.
Estrada connects with a crisp jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Estrada dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kim Sloucher's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sloucher fails with the takedown

and Estrada counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Estrada is working for a submission of some sort.

Estrada is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sloucher doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Estrada.

Estrada is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Estrada is working for a kimura but Sloucher is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sloucher is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Estrada is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sloucher sees it coming and defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Estrada is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sloucher defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Estrada is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Sloucher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Estrada. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sloucher makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Sloucher darts in trying to clinch
and Estrada counters with a stiff right hand.
Sloucher tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Estrada paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sloucher keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sloucher tries to clinch

and Estrada counters with a takedown into side control.
Sloucher gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Sloucher lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

Sloucher is defending against the submission attempts here by Estrada.

Estrada looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Sloucher gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Sloucher gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Estrada regains guard.
Sloucher wanted to stand there but Estrada had control of the position.
Jose Estrada overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Estrada is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Sloucher frees his head nicely. Oh but Estrada has switched to an armbar! Sloucher is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
