Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colon Pointin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Howard comes to the cage accompanied by My Block. Colon Pointin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pointin takes a swing at Howard's ribcage but misses.
Pointin cracks a nice hook into Howard's ribs.
Horrible takedown by Howard or perhaps it was just good defense by Pointin which made him look bad.
Pointin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Howard.
Pointin throws a sloppy head kick and Howard moves out of range easily.
Howard shoots in but no luck this time.

Howard could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Let's hope that Pointin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Pointin misses with a series of wild punches.

Howard shoots in for a double leg but Pointin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A punch lands to the side of Howard 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Howard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Pointin tries to roll over but Howard keeps him under control.

Howard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Howard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pointin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Howard throws and elbow that misses. Pointin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Howard's guard. Nice move by Pointin!
Howard is trying to hold Pointin in close to prevent damage but Pointin has managed to pass into half guard.

That's time! Howard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Pointin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Howard moves away.
Howard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Howard shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Howard was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pointin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pointin tries to lock up and control but Howard gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pointin is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Pointin is looking to improve his position but Howard isn't that keen on the idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Howard shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pointin sprawls well. Pointin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Howard gets slowly back to his feet.

Howard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pointin's waist but Pointin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Howard off to one side.

Colon Pointin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Pointin throws a right hand that Howard ducks under and follows up with a left that Howard also avoids with ease.
Mike Howard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pointin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Howard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Howard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pointin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Howard's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pointin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Colon Pointin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Pointin throws a leg kick which misses Howard's front leg but catches the back leg as Howard tries to avoid it.
Pointin has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Howard takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Howard gets cracked there but stands up to it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Pointin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pointin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Howard napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Howard can't do much from the bottom here.
Mike Howard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pointin wants to stand but Howard is controlling his arm.
You can see the frustration on Howard's face as Pointin controls the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Colon Pointin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pointin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
