Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Kline!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mikey Davis!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Kline staying out of range there.
Kline closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kline lands in his opponent's guard.
Davis trying to control the position.
Davis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kline trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.
Kline tries to free his leg and advance position but Davis is retaining full guard.
Davis controls Kline momentarily but Kline frees himself.
Davis has Kline pulled in close to control his posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Davis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kline can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kline fails to land the takedown.
Davis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kline moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nick Kline seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kline.
Kline tries for a takedown but Davis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Kline. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kline closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Davis is looking to regain half guard here but Kline keeps moving and retains side control.
Davis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kline. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kline presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Kline tries to control but Davis wriggling away.
Kline is really struggling to control Davis but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Davis is desperately trying to improve his position but Kline has a good base and remains in mount.
Kline tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Davis is trying to escape the mount.
Davis is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Kline has taken his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis won't enjoy being in this position. Kline looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Davis is tapping - it's over boys! Kline picks up the submission victory!
