The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by Sovzyeski which made him look bad.
A jab from Sovzyeski finds it's way through Rua's defenses.

It looks like Rickson Rua has been cut.
Rua tries to clinch up but Sovzyeski circles away and keeps his distance.
Rua staying out of range there.
Rua fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rua takes a shot to the head.
Rua tries for a takedown. No joy.
Samsara Sovzyeski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rickson Rua.

Sovzyeski drops Rua onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Rua is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

Sovzyeski misses with the head strike.

Sovzyeski swings wildly with an uppercut but Rua uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rua seems to have recovered his senses.
Sovzyeski makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

That has opened up Rickson Rua's cut even more.

Sovzyeski throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sovzyeski unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Rua! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Sovzyeski is unloading with more strikes now! Rua drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
