PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Senerca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerard Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by It's a Fight -Three 6 Mafia. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis keeps the fight on the outside.
Lewis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Senerca shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lewis clinches up against the cage.
Senerca has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lewis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Senerca struggles to land a body shot inside as Lewis controls his hands.
Senerca tries to score a body lock takedown but Lewis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Senerca. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Senerca has hold of one of Lewis's legs. Lewis is fighting the takedown attempt but Senerca gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Senerca wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.

Senerca wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lewis, who protects the arm well.
Senerca creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Senerca stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lewis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Senerca counters with a series of strikes. Lewis will be more careful next time no doubt.
Senerca tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lewis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Senerca drives through and clinches with Lewis against the cage.

Senerca pulls guard effortlessly.
Senerca not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Senerca has control of Lewis's left arm, preventing Lewis from doing any damage.
Senerca manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lewis manages to get himself to full guard.

Senerca drops back looking for a leg! Lewis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lewis manages to kick Senerca off! Senerca jumps back into Lewis's guard.

Senerca decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lewis, up you get!

Senerca gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Senerca is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lewis is keeping busy.
Senerca lands a nice knee to the body.
A right handed body shot lands from Senerca.
Senerca is working for takedown but Lewis is calmly controlling the position for now.

Senerca ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Senerca no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Senerca wants to stand and escape but Lewis is having none of it.
Senerca is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Senerca uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Lewis fails in his attempt to clinch.
Senerca shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lewis as he jumps to the side.

and Senerca counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lewis's knee momentarily.

and Senerca counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lewis won't be happy with that.
Lewis is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Lewis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Senerca is controlling him well.

Lewis is looking for a sweep.

Senerca stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lewis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Senerca scores with a push kick.

Senerca drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lewis is on top in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lewis wants to control from the top but Senerca keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Senerca utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Senerca's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A nice combination there by Senerca.

Senerca darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lewis wants to get back to full guard but Senerca has passed into side control.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Senerca cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Senerca lands a big elbow.

Senerca has control of Lewis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lewis regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Lewis can't escape the position.

Senerca working for a submission but Lewis is keeping him at bay.
Lewis wants to get back to his feet.
Senerca controlling the position easily from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lewis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Senerca.
Senerca scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Lewis?
Senerca lands a heavy elbow.

Senerca is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Lewis is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Lewis flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Senerca anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Lewis and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Senerca slips an arm under Lewis chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Senerca has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Senerca is squeezing on Lewis like an anaconda would it's prey. Lewis fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
