Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Filipovich Petruhin!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petruhin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gailfus sprawls well initially but Petruhin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Gailfus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Petruhin pulls his head out easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gailfus really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Petruhin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gailfus's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Petruhin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Igor Filipovich Petruhin just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gailfus tries to clinch but Petruhin moves away

and Petruhin counters with a takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gailfus tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Petruhin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gailfus's guard now.

Gailfus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Petruhin is aware though and is defending well.
Gailfus can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Petruhin controls the pace.
Let's hope that Petruhin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Igor Filipovich Petruhin.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petruhin tries to buck Gailfus off but Gailfus is having none of it.

Petruhin won't allow Gailfus to pass to mount.
Petruhin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gailfus's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gailfus's back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Petruhin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gailfus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Petruhin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Petruhin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Igor Filipovich Petruhin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gailfus doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Petruhin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Petruhin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gailfus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Petruhin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Still in half guard, Petruhin seems content to control.

Petruhin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Petruhin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gailfus keeps working.

Well Petruhin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
