PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Han Denderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lito Lapid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapid shoots in looking for a takedown. Denderson tries to sprawl out of it but Lapid keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Denderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lapid closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Denderson to the mat! Denderson manages to get full guard.
Denderson can't keep his opponent in guard - Lapid advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Denderson wants to get back to his feet.

Lapid is looking for a kimura but Denderson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lapid to get the leverage.
Lapid wants to pass to mount but Denderson is defending the position.
Lapid prevents Denderson from standing back up.

Denderson pushes Lapid off looking to stand but Lapid dives back in and keeps control.

Lapid has hold of Denderson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Denderson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Denderson wants to control but Lapid is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lapid goes for an armbar but Denderson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Denderson.

Denderson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Lapid is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Denderson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Denderson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Denderson is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Lapid is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Denderson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Denderson!

Denderson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Denderson misses with a few strikes there.
Denderson throws a right and a left that Lapid avoids nicely.

Lapid shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Denderson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Denderson wants to stand but Lapid is controlling the position.

Lapid drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Denderson dives on top into guard.

Denderson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lapid, up you get!
Lapid tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Denderson swivels and escapes.
Lapid changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Denderson tries to avoid it but Lapid manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Denderson to the ground. Denderson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Denderson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lapid shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lapid feints and as Denderson raises his hands in defense, Lapid changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lapid stops Denderson from standing up.
Denderson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lapid won't allow Denderson to get back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Han Denderson will probably get the nod.

Lapid postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Denderson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lapid, into his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Denderson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lapid's guard.

Lapid has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Denderson. Oh but Lapid has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Denderson goes limp - he's gone! Lapid jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
