Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Challenger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hertz Tatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Challenger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hertz Tatz!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Challenger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tatz's waist but Tatz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Challenger off to one side.
Mark Challenger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Challenger scores a takedown into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Challenger controlling his opponent.
Challenger throwing strikes here but Tatz is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Challenger tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Tatz is looking to improve his position but Challenger isn't that keen on the idea.

Challenger trying to control but Tatz is having none of it.

Challenger moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Tatz has worked his arm free - good work by Tatz!
Challenger content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

and Tatz counters with a left and a right that stings Challenger.

and Tatz makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Challenger is breathing heavily.
Tatz scores with a leg kick.

Challenger darts in and clinches Tatz up against the cage.
Tatz lands an elbow just above Challenger 's eye.


It looks like Mark Challenger has been cut.
Tatz creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Challenger's defenses.

Tatz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Tatz clinches with his opponent.
Challenger jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tatz walks away with a smile on his face. Challenger gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Challenger avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tatz wants to clinch up but Challenger keeps it at a distance.
Tatz is looking to clinch but Challenger is avoiding it.

Tatz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Challenger, pushing him back against the cage.
Challenger tries to land knees in the clinch but Tatz avoids the damage to the body.
Tatz keeps control of Challenger as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Tatz stops a takedown attempt from Challenger.

and Tatz counters with a good low kick that Challenger was not able to check.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Tatz just misses with a elbow thrown towards Challenger's brow.

Tatz is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Challenger wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Tatz is looking to control Challenger's arms but Challenger gets an underhook and turns him. Now Tatz has his back to the cage.
Tatz is pressed up against the cage. Challenger has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tatz down to the mat. Tatz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tatz fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tatz moves in looking to clinch but Challenger pushes him off.
Tatz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Challenger paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Challenger keeps the fight on the outside.
Tatz fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Challenger wants to clinch
and Tatz counters with an outside leg kick.
Tatz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


Jeez, Mark Challenger's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Tatz tries to clinch but Challenger moves out of range.
Tatz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Challenger paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Tatz manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mark Challenger's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
