PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Spart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pierce has chosen Billy Talent - Devil On My Shoulder as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Angel Pierce enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Spart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Angel Pierce!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spart throws a lazy right hand but Pierce sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pierce slips a straight right by Spart.
Pierce blocks a jab.
Nice sprawl there from Spart as Pierce shoots in.
Spart connects with a single shot there.
A slow jab from Spart misses its intended target.
Spart connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A big left from Spart misses.
Spart is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pierce.

Pierce throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Spart was covering up waiting for the punch and Pierce finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pierce trying to control but Spart is working from the bottom.
Spart is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pierce is controlling him.
Spart on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Spart tries to get out of the position.
Pierce looking to pass the guard.

Pierce trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Pierce drops back looking for a leg! Spart is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Spart manages to kick Pierce off! Pierce jumps back into Spart's guard.
Pierce is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Spart is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pierce throwing strikes but missing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pierce.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pierce slips under a jab.

Pierce feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pierce throws a big right hand that misses.
Spart is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pierce trying to control the position from guard on top but Spart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pierce is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pierce throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pierce pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spart is keeping the position for now.

Pierce drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Spart dives on top into guard.
Spart is in close to Pierce's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Spart wants to pass the guard but Pierce is keeping the position.
Pierce looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spart is one step ahead there.
Pierce has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pierce has momentary wrist control but Spart slips an elbow through the middle.

Pierce is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Spart defends well.
Spart trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Spart working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pierce's head.
Pierce utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Pierce had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Spart defends it easily.
Pierce looks gassed!
Spart distracts Pierce with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Pierce is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Spart frees his head nicely. Oh but Pierce has switched to an armbar! Spart is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
