The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Choi.
Smith tries for a takedown but Choi circles away easily

and Choi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now.
Choi throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Choi.
Choi postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Choi looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Choi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Choi for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Smith stands up and waves to Choi to follow him.
No luck for Choi with that takedown attempt.
Jordan Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Beoung Keun Choi.
Smith tries to clinch

and Choi counters with a shoot takedown. Smith fights it but they end up in guard.
Choi working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Smith wants to sweep here but Choi controlling him for the moment.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but Choi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Smith holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Choi thows a big elbow that misses.
Choi throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Smith wants to stand but Choi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Choi avoids the head kick by Smith.
Smith misses with a takedown

and Choi counters with a shoot takedown. Smith fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Choi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Choi is proving a slippery customer.
Choi throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beoung Keun Choi dominated that round.
That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A slapping body kick lands there for Smith.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Choi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Smith!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith gets back to half guard.
Choi is keen to just control but Smith is a slippery customer.
Choi wants to pass to mount but Smith is defending the position.
Choi with the ground and pound but Smith uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Choi throws and elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Choi's guard. Nice move by Smith!

Smith gets to his feet - Choi follows without any prompting.
Choi is breathing heavily.

Smith lands a big head kick that sends Choi tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves Choi back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Beoung Keun Choi has been cut.
Smith moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith tries to clinch up but Choi circles away and keeps his distance.

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Choi.
The referee calls for Smith to work.

Smith breaks the clinch.

Smith is looking to clinch.
Choi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Choi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Smith throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Choi is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
