Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Nobis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Kane!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kane shoots in and bounces Nobis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kane trying to control but Nobis is working from the bottom.
Kane wants to stand and escape but instead Nobis has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Kane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kane seems keen to control Nobis's posture.
Nobis wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving.
Nobis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kane utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nobis wants to stand but Kane has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nobis passes Kane's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nobis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kane moves into full guard.
Nobis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kane scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Kane is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kane had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nobis defends it easily.
Nobis trying to control the position from guard on top but Kane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nobis tries to stand but Kane is controlling from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kane avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nobis scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.


It looks like Michael Kane has been cut.
Nobis cracks a nice hook into Kane's ribs.
Nobis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kane counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kane.
Kane looks gassed!
Nobis throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Nobis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kane manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Nobis wants to stand but Kane has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kane avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Kane has a closed guard, preventing Nobis from standing up.
Kane throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kane can do anything to dispel that myth.
Nobis is looking to work some ground and pound but Kane has wrist control.
Nobis thows a big elbow that misses.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nobis stuffs the takedown attempt from Kane. Kane gets slowly back to his feet.

Kane throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nobis was covering up waiting for the punch and Kane finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Nobis pulls Kane in close to his closed guard and prevents Kane from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nobis wants to stand but Kane is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michael Kane will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nobis scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kane doesn't seem bothered though.
Peter Nobis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nobis misses with the combination.

Kane gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Kane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kane drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kane throws a strike aimed at the side of Nobis's head but Nobis avoids it well.

Kane stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Nobis dodges the punch combination from Kane.
Nobis keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Kane walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nobis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kane.
Peter Nobis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Kane counters with a shoot takedown. Nobis fights it but they end up in guard.
Kane is breathing heavily.
Kane trying to control but Nobis is working from the bottom.

Nobis is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Kane rolls with it to try and escape but Nobis cranks on the arm and Kane is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
