PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between JAH RASTAFARI (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). RASTAFARI comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome To Jamrock. The key to victory for JAH RASTAFARI has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, JAH RASTAFARI!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Cole!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from RASTAFARI.
RASTAFARI throws a nice head kick!
Cole tries to close the distance and clinch but RASTAFARI swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
RASTAFARI pulls out of a head kick attempt.
RASTAFARI throws a sloppy head kick and Cole moves out of range easily.
Cole checks a low kick from RASTAFARI.

Cole closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. RASTAFARI did well to prevent Cole getting side control.

Cole is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so RASTAFARI is just riding it out for now. Cole eventually gives up the hold.
Cole seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but RASTAFARI does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cole trying to mount his opponent but RASTAFARI defends it.
RASTAFARI really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Cole trying to advance position but RASTAFARI counters by regaining guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cole trying to control but RASTAFARI is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cole gets to his feet. RASTAFARI looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
RASTAFARI throws a right hand that Cole ducks under and follows up with a left that Cole also avoids with ease.

RASTAFARI gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cole to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Cole stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. RASTAFARI swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Cole dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Cole drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cole won't allow RASTAFARI to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cole landing with the ground and pound.
Cole wants to control from the top but RASTAFARI keeps moving.

Cole thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cole trying to control the position from guard on top but RASTAFARI is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cole wants to pass the guard but RASTAFARI is keeping the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Cole showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A decent looking body kick lands there for RASTAFARI.

Cole darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cole trying to control from half guard but RASTAFARI is working away.

Cole wants to pass to mount but RASTAFARI is defending the position.
Cole stops RASTAFARI from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cole seems to be working for a kimura but RASTAFARI defends the submission attempt.
Cole keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cole is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and RASTAFARI reverses the position - he's now on top in Cole's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cole has RASTAFARI pulled in close to control his posture.
RASTAFARI will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cole is looking for a triangle but RASTAFARI pushes his legs off easily.
Cole is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Simon Cole.
RASTAFARI tries to land a front kick but Cole steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Simon Cole is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
RASTAFARI goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Nice sprawl there from RASTAFARI as Cole shoots in.
Cole tries to clinch but RASTAFARI is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Simon Cole comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Cole winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
