The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivero swinging wildly here.
Rivero throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Rivero throws a right and a left that Ward avoids nicely.

Rivero lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ward circles away quickly and effectively.
Rivero looks to land a combination but Ward avoids it well.
Crunch! Ward slams his shin into Rivero's torso.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ward throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rivero's waist but Rivero gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ward off to one side.

Rivero lands with a nice combination. Ward backs away looking to recover.
Rivero throws a right hand that Ward ducks under and follows up with a left that Ward also avoids with ease.

John Rivero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

No joy there for Ward, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ward stalks Rivero and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rivero's face. Rivero staggers backwards, shaken.

Rivero loses concentration momentarily and Ward pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Rivero crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Ward finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
