Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Po (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sheamus Noonan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Po comes into the arena with Skrypture - Look blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Po!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sheamus Noonan!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Noonan or perhaps it was just good defense by Po which made him look bad.
Noonan checks a leg kick.
Noonan throws a body punch but Po moves out of range.
Noonan drops his hands momentarily and Po takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Po defending well as Noonan loads up on a big left hand.
Po throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Noonan blocks a low kick nicely.
Noonan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Noonan there as he acknowledges the shot.
Noonan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Noonan takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Noonan dives in and grabs Po's left leg, looking for a takedown. Po pushes down on Noonan's head and hops out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Po swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Noonan checks a low kick from Po.

Noonan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Noonan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Po looks like he's trying to stand up.
Noonan misses with a head shot. Po uses the momentum to regain guard.
Po avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Noonan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Noonan thows a big elbow that misses.
Noonan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Po not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Noonan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Noonan misses the shot to the body.
A clash of legs there as Noonan blocks the low kick.
The fighters circling - Noonan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Po lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Noonan has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Noonan and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Noonan misses with a two punch combination.
Po uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Noonan.
Po is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Noonan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Po doesn't seem bothered though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Po throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Noonan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Po tries to work over Noonan's front leg with a kick but Noonan checks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Po will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Po with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Noonan to score with a decent uppercut.
Noonan jabs Po right on the nose. Po blinks but takes it well.
Noonan moves away from the strike by Po.
Noonan misses with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Po moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Po lands a head kick. Noonan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Po throws a hook but Noonan avoids it easily.

and Noonan counters with a nice body shot.
Po tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Noonan is able to avoid easily.
Noonan takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Noonan.
Po fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Noonan blocks a low kick nicely.
Po's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Po duly obliges.

A good leg kick by Po.
James Po seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Po throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Po does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Noonan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
James Po is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Good leg kick by Po there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Po slips under a jab from Noonan.

Noonan shoots in and bounces Po off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Po is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Noonan.
Po tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Noonan was well out of range. Poor timing from Po.

Noonan closes the distance and clinches up with Po, looking for a takedown. Noonan pushes Po against the cage but Po circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Noonan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Po's guard now.
Noonan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Noonan's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Noonan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Po moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Po.
I think Po has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
