PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ernest Gammon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Red Buckles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ernest Gammon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Red Buckles!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buckles lands a jab to Gammon's midsection.
Gammon moves in looking to clinch but Buckles pushes him off.
Gammon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Buckles as he avoids it easily.

Buckles shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Buckles is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gammon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gammon has escaped and now he's on top!

Gammon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Buckles has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gammon has managed to get both his arms back between Buckles's legs - danger averted.

Buckles looking for a guillotine here but Gammon defends easily.

Buckles is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buckles keeping moving, preventing Gammon from controlling successfully.

Gammon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Buckles has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gammon has managed to get both his arms back between Buckles's legs - danger averted.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Buckles escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gammon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gammon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Buckles working for a triangle but Gammon defends it easily.

Buckles has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gammon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gammon thows a big elbow that misses.
Gammon wants to control from the top but Buckles keeps moving.
Buckles keeping full guard, as Gammon tries to pass.

Buckles is looking for a triangle here but Gammon uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Buckles gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Gammon landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Gammon is trying to work for a kimura but Buckles is defending well.

Buckles actively working from the bottom here.

Gammon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Buckles is just riding it out for now. Gammon eventually gives up the hold.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buckles tries to roll over but Gammon keeps him under control.

Gammon is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Buckles looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Gammon is looking to advance position but Buckles won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gammon fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gammon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Buckles thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Buckles drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gammon dives on top into guard.
Gammon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gammon trying to control but Buckles is working from the bottom.

Buckles has his feet on Gammon's thighs here. He's pushed Gammon off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Gammon screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Red Buckles!
