PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Kuklinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Howard Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moon has chosen Eels - The Mighty Boosh as his entrance music. Howard Moon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Kuklinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Howard Moon!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuklinski misses with a wild body shot.
Kuklinski swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Moon throws a combination that misses
and Kuklinski makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kuklinski takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Moon looks to throw the jab but Kuklinski is out of range.
Kuklinski throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kuklinski loads up on a big right hand but Moon slips the punch.
Moon connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kuklinski misses with a straight left.
Kuklinski connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Moon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kuklinski stands and throws Moon's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Moon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kuklinski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moon tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moon is trying to control Kuklinski's posture but Kuklinski avoids it.
Kuklinski tries to score with some ground and pound. Moon controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Moon parries the strikes from Kuklinski easily there. Kuklinski is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Moon to escape.
Moon is looking to regain half guard here but Kuklinski keeps moving and retains side control.

Kuklinski is trying to get an arm triangle but Moon is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kuklinski throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Moon prevents Kuklinski from moving into mount.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Moon throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Kuklinski to counter with a crisp jab.
Kuklinski uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Moon.
Kuklinski fails to land the takedown.
Moon connects with a solid leg kick.
Moon swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Kuklinski counters with a single leg into guard. Moon didn't expect that.
Kuklinski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Moon can do anything to dispel that myth.

Moon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kuklinski is one step ahead there.
Moon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Moon looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kuklinski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Moon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Moon misses the jab.
Kuklinski throws an overhand right that lands on Moon's shoulder, as Moon tries to avoid the shot.
Moon falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kuklinski counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Moon thinking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Kuklinski dominated that round.
That's time! Kuklinski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Moon looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Kuklinski slips a straight right by Moon.
Kuklinski lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Richard Kuklinski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kuklinski tries to score a power double leg takedown but Moon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kuklinski somewhat.
Kuklinski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moon as he avoids it easily.
Kuklinski fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Moon moves in looking to clinch but Kuklinski pushes him off.
Moon swings away with a body shot that misses
and Kuklinski counters with a straight right hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kuklinski shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Moon defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard Kuklinski. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kuklinski blocks a low kick nicely.

Kuklinski throws out a loose jab but Moon uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kuklinski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Moon but Moon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Moon connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kuklinski momentarily.

Moon misses with an uppercut. Kuklinski saw that one coming.
Moon misses with a low kick.
Moon throws a jab but it's blocked by Kuklinski.
Moon throws a hook but Kuklinski avoids it easily.
Kuklinski walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Howard Moon seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Moon dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kuklinski. That did some damage!
Kuklinski throws a shot from downtown. Moon moves away and avoids it.

Kuklinski takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Moon moves into range and connects with a jab.
Moon slips under a jab from Kuklinski.
Kuklinski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kuklinski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Moon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Moon doesn't manage to clinch there - Kuklinski circles away.
Howard Moon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Kuklinski counters with a series of strikes. Moon will be more careful next time no doubt.
Kuklinski shoots in for a double leg but Moon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kuklinski lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Moon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kuklinski.
Moon lands with a hook. Kuklinski tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Moon ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Moon misses with a body shot.
Moon scores with a shot to the body.
Moon lunges at Kuklinski with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kuklinski's hand.
Kuklinski takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Moon tries to clinch but Kuklinski is having none of it.
Kuklinski takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Moon throws a good cross that connects.


Kuklinski is rocked!
Moon looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Oh Kuklinski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kuklinski leaves his chin hanging out and Moon seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Kuklinski crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Howard Moon!
