The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ono shoots for a takedown but Wentworth saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wentworth throws a head kick that misses.
Ono tries a head kick but it misses.
Wentworth pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Wentworth as Ono shoots in.
Wentworth throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ono shoots in for a double leg but Wentworth sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Ono counters with a single leg into guard. Wentworth didn't expect that.

Ono seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wentworth for as long as he can get away with.

Ono is looking to take a break and control but Wentworth is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wentworth pushes Ono off looking to stand but Ono dives back in and keeps control.
Ono is taking a breather. Wentworth says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ono wants to pass to mount but Wentworth is defending the position.
Well, if Ono is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ono is working for a submission of some sort.
Ono wants to control but Wentworth is keeping him busy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Wentworth throws a sloppy head kick and Ono moves out of range easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wentworth misses with a head kick.
Ono shoots in looking for a takedown. Wentworth tries to sprawl out of it but Ono keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wentworth manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Wentworth tries a head kick but it misses.
Wentworth avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Takihashi Ono is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ono shoots in and drives through. Wentworth sprawls well.

Ono feints and as Wentworth raises his hands in defense, Ono changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wentworth looks like he's trying to stand up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ono is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wentworth can't escape the position.

Wentworth wants to get back to his feet.
Ono looking to control and managing it successfully.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Takihashi Ono just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Horrible takedown by Ono or perhaps it was just good defense by Wentworth which made him look bad.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ono closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Wentworth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ono is looking to take a break and control but Wentworth is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Wentworth is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Ono is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ono, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
