Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Winston Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I Stand Alone. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Winston Steel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dave McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel shoots for a takedown but McDonald saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McDonald throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McDonald ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Steel throws a series of punches but McDonald avoids them all with ease.
McDonald tries to close the distance and clinch up but Steel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McDonald tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McDonald tries to clinch but Steel is having none of it.
Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McDonald avoids the head kick by Steel.
McDonald looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Steel is fending him off so far but McDonald persists. Nope, Steel circles away and we're back to standing.

McDonald lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Winston Steel has been cut.
Steel throws a nice looking combination but McDonald bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Steel gets caught flat footed, as McDonald shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McDonald in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
McDonald is looking to work some ground and pound but Steel has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDonald sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Steel's guard.
McDonald not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
McDonald trying to control from half guard but Steel is working away.
McDonald thows a huge punch but Steel dodges it nicely.
Steel is trying to stand up here but McDonald is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McDonald shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dave McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and McDonald moves into the clinch.
McDonald lands a shot to the body.

McDonald pulls guard.

McDonald is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Steel is aware though and is defending well.
Steel won't allow McDonald to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDonald wants to improve his position but instead Steel has moved into half guard.
Steel prevents McDonald from improving his position.

McDonald looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
McDonald looks gassed!
McDonald is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

McDonald is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Steel pulls his head out easily.
Steel trying to advance position but McDonald counters by regaining guard.

Steel forces his way into half guard.
McDonald wants to control but Steel is keeping busy.

McDonald looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

McDonald looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Steel working McDonald over with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McDonald actively working from the bottom here.
Steel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Steel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McDonald is just riding it out for now. Steel eventually gives up the hold.
Steel moves nicely into side control.
McDonald is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave McDonald dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Winston Steel's cut.
That's time! Steel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Nice takedown defense from Steel. No joy for McDonald on that attempt.

McDonald darts in and clinches Steel up against the cage.
Steel has had enough of the clinch but McDonald keeps him there for the moment.
McDonald misses with a knee strike.
Steel looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Steel breaks from the clinch.
Steel dives in and grabs McDonald's left leg, looking for a takedown. McDonald pushes down on Steel's head and hops out.
Steel misses with a hook to the body

and McDonald counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McDonald.
Steel tries to break free but McDonald pushes him back against the cage.
Steel is trying to stall.
McDonald creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Steel is looking to break free of the clinch but McDonald has double underhooks.
McDonald stops a takedown attempt from Steel.
Steel is trying to force a seperation but McDonald has the dominant position.
Steel tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Winston Steel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steel working hard to break the clinch.
Steel is trying to maintain a safe position but McDonald gets an underhook and turns Steel into the cage.
McDonald is pressed up against the cage. Steel has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McDonald down to the mat. McDonald avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Winston Steel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A jab from McDonald finds it's way through Steel's defenses.
McDonald throws a quick inside leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McDonald lands with a nice combination. Steel backs away looking to recover.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McDonald moves into range and clinches up with Steel.
McDonald lands a nice knee to the body.

McDonald pulls guard successfully.
Steel won't allow McDonald to sweep him here.

Steel got a little sloppy there for a moment and McDonald has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Steel has managed to get both his arms back between McDonald's legs - danger averted.
McDonald is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McDonald manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

McDonald has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Steel is forced to tap!
