Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Guinness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Guinness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Brett James!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James clinches up with Guinness and pushes him back against the ropes.

Guinness manages to break the clinch.
James is looking to clinch.
James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
James stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Guinness avoids it really well and circles away.
James shoots in looking for a takedown. Guinness tries to sprawl out of it but James keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Guinness manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Guinness blocks a head kick by James.
James fails with an attempt to clinch.
James slips a jab and a cross from Guinness.
Guinness shoots and misses

and James counters by moving into the clinch.
Guinness can't get the takedown.
Guinness wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
James comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Guinness manages to break the clinch.

James closes the distance and clinches up with Guinness, looking for a takedown. James pushes Guinness against the ropes but Guinness circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Richard Guinness has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brett James.
Guinness throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
James throws a body kick that misses.
Guinness is trying hard to land a takedown here. James sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Guinness throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guinness off to one side.
Guinness shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Guinness tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but James paws at him with a jab and circles away.
James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James misses with a two punch combination.

James closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
James content to control rather than advance.
James thows a huge punch but Guinness dodges it nicely.

James slows the pace down in half guard.
Guinness is looking for a sweep. James is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Guinness keeps control of the position for the meantime.
James is keen to just control but Guinness is a slippery customer.
James frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Guinness is looking to get to half guard.
Guinness is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
James throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Guinness because James loaded up on that one.
Guinness on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Guinness tries to get out of the position.
James trying to control but Guinness is having none of it.
Guinness is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Guinness is looking to get to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Guinness throwing hammer fists to the chest of James. What's that going to do exactly?
Guinness taking shots to the head.
Guinness is bucking up trying to escape but James cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
James sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Guinness tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
James takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
James looking to control but Guinness is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Guinness wants to hold on but James pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brett James dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Guinness swings and misses with a hook to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from James.
James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Guinness swivels and escapes.
Guinness throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease.
Guinness misses with the combination.
Richard Guinness is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Guinness doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
James will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Richard Guinness has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brett James.

James is trying hard to land a takedown here. Guinness sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Guinness but Guinness pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Guinness looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Guinness persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown by Guinness or perhaps it was just good defense by James which made him look bad.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Guinness gets in close and instigates a clinch.

James changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Guinness fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Guinness throws a series of punches but James moves out of range.
Guinness takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Guinness tries to clinch but fails miserably

and James counters with a nice double leg into side control. Guinness won't be happy with that.

James stands up and we're back to a striking position.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.
Guinness shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
James swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Guinness counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

James shoots for a takedown but Guinness saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
James leaves Guinness with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Guinness as he jumps to the side.
Guinness is on the wrong end of a nice combination from James.
James moves out of range of the strikes.

James darts in and clinches Guinness up against the ropes.
Guinness fails to pull guard.

James jumps guard and drags Guinness to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
James wants to stand up but Guinness is controlling him.
James wants to sweep here but Guinness controlling him for the moment.

Guinness trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Guinness tries to stand but James is controlling from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
James moves out of range as Guinness throws a body kick.

James fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Guinness sprawls well initially but James persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Guinness is not content to let James control the position.
James content to control rather than advance.
James missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brett James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Guinness wants to clinch.
Guinness defends well against a solid takedown attempt from James.
The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Guinness.
James lands with a shot to the body.

and James counters with a left and a right that stings Guinness.
Guinness wants to clinch up but James keeps it at a distance.

and James counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Guinness will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
James misses with a combination
and Guinness counters with a straight right hand.
James dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Guinness shoots for a double leg takedown but James sprawls well. He's pushed Guinness's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard Guinness. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Guinness is rocked!

James shoots for a double leg takedown but Guinness sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Oh Guinness is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

James has managed to clinch.

James breaks from the clinch.
Brett James seems to be getting the better of the standup.
James lands a jab.
Guinness wants to clinch
and James counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
James throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
James Rushes Guinness and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Guinness is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. James Piles on the pressure and Guinness crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
