The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
schmidt is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
schmidt doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lau swats away the attempt to clinch by schmidt.
Lau fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but schmidt avoids it really well and circles away.

Lau's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lau is fighting to break schmidt's control of his arms but schmidt is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
