Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Gutierrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Shlemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Gutierrez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergei Shlemenko!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gutierrez misses with a double jab.
Gutierrez attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Shlemenko drops Gutierrez with a beautiful combination! Gutierrez stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Shlemenko is looking for the KO!
Gutierrez is rocked!
It looks like Gabriel Gutierrez has been cut.
Gutierrez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Oh Gutierrez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shlemenko blocks a low kick nicely.
Gutierrez keeps the fight on the outside.
Gutierrez seems to have got his legs back now.
Shlemenko tries to clinch there but Gutierrez circles away.
No joy there for Gutierrez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Shlemenko throws a head kick that misses.
Gutierrez lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Gutierrez throws a series of punches but Shlemenko moves out of range.
Gutierrez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Shlemenko is able to avoid easily.
Gutierrez throws a series of strikes that have Shlemenko backpedaling.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gutierrez wants to clinch up but Shlemenko keeps it at a distance.
Gutierrez avoids the head kick by Shlemenko.
Shlemenko rushes Gutierrez and presses him up against the cage.
Shlemenko pushes off an throws an elbow but Gutierrez leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Shlemenko is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Shlemenko has Gutierrez pressed against the cage, preventing Gutierrez from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Shlemenko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shlemenko gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gutierrez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gutierrez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Shlemenko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gutierrez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gutierrez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shlemenko works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gutierrez is looking to work some ground and pound but Shlemenko has wrist control.
Gutierrez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shlemenko dives on top into guard.
Shlemenko gets to his feet - Gutierrez follows without any prompting.
Whack! Shlemenko lands a heavy head kick that drops Gutierrez. The ref tackles Shlemenko to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Gutierrez was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Sergei Shlemenko!
Sergei Shlemenko is the new middleweight champion!
