PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Caldwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Bino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shane Caldwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pedro Bino!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bino bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bino swings around for an armbar but Caldwin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bino's guard.
Bino looking for a sweep. Not yet Bino, not yet.

Bino escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caldwin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Caldwin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bino has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Caldwin has managed to get both his arms back between Bino's legs - danger averted.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bino is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Caldwin is aware though and is defending well.

Caldwin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Caldwin wants to stand but Bino is controlling his posture from full guard.

Bino working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Caldwin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Caldwin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bino is looking for a triangle but Caldwin pushes his legs off easily.
Caldwin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bino is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bino has his foot on Caldwin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Caldwin works his way back into a safe position though.

Bino looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Caldwin has picked Bino up and slammed him! Bino can't keep hold of the triangle and Caldwin manages to pass to side control!

Bino wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Caldwin misses with a double jab.
A chopping leg kick lands by Caldwin.
Bino blocks a head kick by Caldwin.
Caldwin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bino avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Caldwin scores with a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Caldwin throws a combination. Bino tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Caldwin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - Caldwin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Caldwin misses with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedro Bino dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Bino shoots in for a double leg but Caldwin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Caldwin looks to land a body kick but Bino moved away.
Caldwin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Horrible takedown by Bino or perhaps it was just good defense by Caldwin which made him look bad.
Bino swats away the attempt to clinch by Caldwin.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bino.
Shane Caldwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Bino.

Caldwin can't escape the position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bino is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Caldwin is surviving well by controlling Bino's body position as best he can.

Bino jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Caldwin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Caldwin and Bino has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Caldwin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bino asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Bino passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Caldwin!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bino wants to take his opponent's back but Caldwin doesn't allow it.

Bino is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Caldwin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Bino has control of Caldwin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Caldwin regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Caldwin tries to hold on but Bino pushes him away.
Caldwin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Pedro Bino showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Bino fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Caldwin sprawls well initially but Bino persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Bino maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Caldwin could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bino has cracked it and Caldwin is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bino!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pedro Bino!
