Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Angelo Russo! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones takes a swing at Russo's ribcage but misses. Russo scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Russo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Russo lands a slapping body shot.
Russo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Russo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jones connects with a crisp jab. Jones missing with a left hand there. Russo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Russo throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. Jones uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Russo. Danga de danga de dang - Russo scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Chris Jones has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones throws a lazy right hand but Russo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Russo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jones has time to react. Russo avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A big right from Jones misses. Jones throws a big shot that misses. Russo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Russo scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jones to see if he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones stops Russo from passing to mount. Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Russo on the ground. Russo is trying to get an arm triangle but Jones is defending well. Jones is trying to improve his position. Russo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Jones! Jones tries to hold on but Russo postures up. Russo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jones's face.
Russo is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Jones is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Jones flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Russo anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Jones and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Russo slips an arm under Jones chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Russo has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Russo is squeezing on Jones like an anaconda would it's prey. Jones fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Angelo Russo!
