Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John OShea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Trepanier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trepanier is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Gimme Shelter-Rolling Stones. Kyle Trepanier is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
OShea tries to clinch up but Trepanier circles away and keeps his distance.
Trepanier looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from OShea is defended easily by Trepanier.
OShea pivots, looking for a leg kick but Trepanier is out of range and OShea settles back down.

It looks like Kyle Trepanier has been cut.

OShea has closed the distance and engaged Trepanier in a clinch.
OShea lands a nice shot to the body.
OShea wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

OShea leaves Trepanier with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
OShea throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

OShea tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Trepanier takes one on the button.

OShea tries to close the distance and clinch but Trepanier swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Trepanier walks forward, straight into a front kick from OShea.

OShea tries to clinch there but Trepanier circles away.
Trepanier with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling OShea to score with a decent uppercut.

OShea pushes Trepanier up against the cage in a clinch.

OShea breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
OShea takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

A looping hook to the body misses from OShea. Trepanier does a little dance to reset his feet.
OShea misses with a double jab.
OShea lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

OShea throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Trepanier's waist but Trepanier gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing OShea off to one side.

Trepanier throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
OShea throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
OShea lands with a cross.

OShea takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Trepanier connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Trepanier.
Trepanier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Trepanier holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's time! OShea's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and OShea counters with a three punch combo that has Trepanier backing up. Trepanier nods at OShea to acknowledge the strikes.

A clash of legs there as Trepanier blocks the low kick.

Trepanier closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Trepanier lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Trepanier is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
OShea looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Trepanier wanted to stand there but OShea had control of the position.
Trepanier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. OShea swivels though and keeps the full guard.
OShea knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Trepanier on the ground.
Trepanier slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
OShea has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
OShea is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Trepanier postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! OShea is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Trepanier, into his guard.
OShea wants to get up but he can't break Trepanier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
OShea throws and elbow that misses. Trepanier uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in OShea's guard. Nice move by Trepanier!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
OShea tries to land a sweep but no joy.
OShea is trying to keep Trepanier in close.
Trepanier trying to control the position from guard on top but OShea is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Trepanier is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
OShea scores with a hook to the body. Trepanier takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Kyle Trepanier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
OShea will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Trepanier drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but OShea manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Trepanier has OShea in his guard.
OShea is looking to work some ground and pound but Trepanier has wrist control.
Trepanier looking to hit a scissor sweep but OShea is one step ahead there.
Trepanier is looking to stand back up but OShea counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Trepanier.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Trepanier looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
OShea wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trepanier keeps working.
OShea is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Trepanier is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown by Trepanier or perhaps it was just good defense by OShea which made him look bad.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kyle Trepanier comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Trepanier has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
