Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ivor Biggun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivor Biggun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert John!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Biggun shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
John is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Biggun takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Biggun gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Biggun moves in looking to clinch but John pushes him off.

John scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Biggun struggling a bit here.
John is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Biggun wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Biggun is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on John's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Biggun looking for submissions off his back.
John thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Biggun's head.
John is thwarting Biggun's attempts to control the position.
Biggun might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Biggun shoots for a double leg takedown but John sprawls well. He's pushed Biggun's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Biggun looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Biggun looks for the body kick but John saw that one coming.
Biggun throws a half hearted mid kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Biggun crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from John - the referee stops the clock and Biggun gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says John. Biggun manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
John throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
John lands a jab-cross combination.
Biggun is breathing heavily.

John forces Biggun back against the cage and clinches.
Biggun tries to break the clinch but John is controlling the position.
John tries to pull guard but Biggun won't allow it.
Nice elbow from John.

John gets a trip takedown into half guard.
John is looking to take a break and control but Biggun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
John prevents Biggun from improving his position.
John tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Biggun works his way to full guard. Good work.
Biggun is trying to control the position from the bottom.
John throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Biggun works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Biggun has his foot on John's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. John works his way back into a safe position though.

Biggun is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

John thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

John wants to stand but Biggun has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Biggun has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but John can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Biggun looking for a guillotine here but John defends easily.
John slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Biggun keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully.
Biggun is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Robert John will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Biggun walks into a straight right hand from John.
John lands with a kick to the temple. Biggun shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A head kick from John lands but Biggun takes it in his stride.
Ivor Biggun is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Biggun misses with a takedown attempt
and John counters with a one-two to the body.
John wants to clinch

and Biggun counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for John!

Biggun looking to isolate an arm here. John doesn't see it coming and as Biggun extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Biggun!
