The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez looks for a takedown but Winner sprawls well.
Winner tries to close the distance and clinch but Velasquez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Winner stuffs the takedown.
Velasquez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Velasquez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Velasquez throws a hook to the side of Winner's head but Winner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cain Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velasquez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velasquez throws a right hand that Winner ducks under and follows up with a left that Winner also avoids with ease.
A big left from Velasquez misses.

Velasquez throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Velasquez has hold of Winner's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Winner seems comfortable defending it but Velasquez has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Winner is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Winner is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Velasquez couldn't care less - he's delighted!
