Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ichiro Makoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Ashby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon Ashby will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ashby has Makoto up against the cage in a clinch.

Ashby has hold of one of Makoto's legs. Makoto is fighting the takedown attempt but Ashby gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Ashby wanted to stand there but Makoto had control of the position.
Ashby throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Makoto is looking for a triangle but Ashby pushes his legs off easily.

Ashby got a little sloppy there for a moment and Makoto has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ashby has managed to get both his arms back between Makoto's legs - danger averted.

Ashby drops back looking for a leg! Makoto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Makoto manages to kick Ashby off! Ashby jumps back into Makoto's guard.

Makoto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ashby defends well.
Makoto is breathing heavily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ashby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ashby drops back looking for a leg! Makoto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Makoto manages to kick Ashby off! Ashby jumps back into Makoto's guard.
Ashby landing with the ground and pound.

Makoto throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ashby escapes and throws Makoto's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Ashby lands some shots froms side control.

Ashby trying to control the position but Makoto is working away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ashby tries for a kimura but Makoto is defending well.
Makoto gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Makoto looking for submissions off his back.
Ashby lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Makoto is not content to let Ashby control the position.
Makoto is trying to get back to full guard.

Ashby keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Makoto's head.
Makoto keeping moving, preventing Ashby from controlling successfully.
Makoto looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ashby puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Makoto is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ashby pulls his head out easily.
Ashby is keen to just control but Makoto is a slippery customer.
Ashby working over Makoto with some ground and pound. Makoto looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ashby lands a nice short elbow.
Makoto is looking for a sweep. Ashby is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Makoto is not content to let Ashby control the position.
Ashby wants to stand up but Makoto is controlling the position.
Ashby is keen to just control but Makoto is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ashby scores with a kick to the midsection.

Ashby pushes Makoto up against the cage in a clinch.

Ashby drags the fight down to the ground.

Ashby had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Makoto defends it easily.

Makoto drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ashby looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ashby looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ashby!
Makoto is looking to reverse the position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Makoto gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Makoto has a closed guard, preventing Ashby from standing up.

Ashby stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ashby scoring well with a low kick there.

Ashby throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Makoto was covering up waiting for the punch and Ashby finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Makoto looking for a guillotine here but Ashby defends easily.

Makoto looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ashby passes into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Makoto tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ashby presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Makoto is desperately trying to improve his position but Ashby has a good base and remains in mount.
Makoto is trying to reverse the position but instead Ashby has taken his back - oops!

Ashby working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Makoto is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Ashby has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Makoto taps out!
