PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus OConnor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and lorenzo cryer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). cryer has chosen there when they come 4 me as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus OConnor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, lorenzo cryer!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
OConnor tries to clinch there but cryer circles away.

OConnor drives through with a takedown into guard.
OConnor works a leg free and moves into half guard.
cryer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
OConnor looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
OConnor slows the pace down in half guard.
cryer trying to control from the bottom.
OConnor trying to control the pace.
cryer is trying to stand back up but OConnor is controlling him

That's one minute gone in the round.
OConnor looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks cryer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
OConnor seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

OConnor is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so cryer is just riding it out for now. OConnor eventually gives up the hold.
cryer wants to get back to his feet.
OConnor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
OConnor throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
cryer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with OConnor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OConnor is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and cryer defends it well.
cryer wants to stand back up but OConnor manages to pass into side control.
OConnor trying to control the position but cryer is working away.

OConnor looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
cryer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
cryer taking punishment in the form of punches.
OConnor wants to lay and pray for a moment but cryer keeps working.
cryer looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
cryer can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee asks OConnor politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. OConnor prefers to stall for the moment though.
Sloppy strikes there by OConnor.
OConnor lands some shots froms side control.
cryer is being controlled here.
cryer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, OConnor asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus OConnor dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


cryer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from OConnor.

OConnor is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in cryer's half guard.
OConnor working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
cryer tries to kick OConnor off but OConnor keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

OConnor is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
cryer is breathing heavily.
cryer is trying to maintain the position but OConnor is very close to passing his half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, if OConnor is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
cryer is trying to stand back up but OConnor is controlling him
OConnor not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
OConnor passes to side control.

OConnor has hold of cryer's arm. He's looking for a kimura. cryer seems comfortable defending it but OConnor has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! cryer is real pain and he's forced to tap out! cryer is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but OConnor couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcus OConnor!
